You seem to be saying that you've no idea how much better things would be if 
we abandoned the KOP, but we should abandon it anyway.

So, the kickoff is abandoned, and there's still a herd (do the maths, you'll 
still get one, unless you increase the hiking window or decrease the number 
of people). What then?
