Today day hiked PCT from Black Mt to San Jacinto via the Deer Springs Trail and then looped around through Strawberry Cienga and the PCT back through Fuller Ridge. The trail Gorillas have done a fantastic job with new switches, boulder blasting, and manicuring this whole segment. Only one blow down just south of junction with Strawberry Trail. DOUBLE KUDOS - I have never seen a section this remote manicured this WELL!

Water wise it is pretty dry up there --- none of the Trib of the N Fork of San Jacinto had any water --- Strawberry Cienga - you'd have to wait half a day to catch enough drips for a liter. The next spring (N 1.5 miles) has just a puddle to filter. In an emergency you could hike up the deer springs trail less than a mile and there was decent flow and if you headed towards Wellmans Divide and the summit of San Jack - Wellmans Cienga was flowing about a liter a minute. Don't count on much water for very long for the South Bounders and Section Hikers!

Great day in the wilderness - Saw only two people on the PCT and about a dozen on Deer Springs and Summit.
