[pct-l] Food Storage in Washington?

Bears are present, though I have never had an unpleasant  midnight encounter 
with any and as hunting pressure is pretty stiff, they fear  humans (a lot).  
It is always recommended to hang food, though this is  sometimes impracticable 
- silly.  Ever try to hang a food bag "twenty feet  up and five feet out" 
from a eight foot Subalpine Fir?
