I'd suggest Red's Meadow to Tuolumne.  If the snow is too much over  
Donahue
pass they can simply turn around and go back to Red's, if not they could
continue into Yosemite.  I think it is possible to take a bus back to
Red's.  Elevation might be a concern though.
