I've been hiking the PCT & CDT for 40+ years.
I've never filtered or treated water.
I've never slept in a tent.
I don't use trekking poles.
I don't own a stove.
I don't hang my food or use a bear device.
 
Have I been lucky? 
If so, I hope my luck continues.

I use a PreMac Travel Well     (emergencyresponseintl.com)    It runs
around
120 bucks but only weighs 6oz. This is the real stuff for those who want
the
best.  I am a total believer.  It'll turn cowpiss into honey water.
