Yes, Morena Butte nearly killed Scoots and I in 03.  Quite a climb under
the
mid-day sun.

All those crazy experienced hikers at the kick-off: "Pppfpfss ... the
first
20 miles is a breeze ... took us six hours.  Nah, don't take your pack,
it's
eeeeeaaasy miles!"

Cruel trick I say!!!

chances are you'll be camping on Hauser Mountain the first night, Morena
Butte the following morning can be a tough climb in the HOT sun.....heh
heh........prolly taken out many a city slicker 10 miles in.
