[pct-l] Stove fuel

My experience is the same as yours.  I will add that when we went on Mountain Education's winter preparedness course, we also had temps in the 20s and blizzard conditions in addition to the elevation -- and our alcohol stove worked perfectly with no discernable difference in performance.
