I have a Tom Harrison map of Sequoia & Kings Canyon which shows all hiking
trails in the parks. the Bubbs Creek trail to Roads End seems to be the best
way into the park from the PCT . It's 7.4 miles north of Forester Pass and
is about 13 miles. There are two trails you can take back to the PCT if you
don't want to back track on the Bubbs Creek trail. There's the 13.4 mile
Paradise Valley trail which will put you 13.5 miles north of where you left
the PCT . You could also go right up Kings Canyon, starting at Roads End
it's a 30 some mile trail that connects to the PCT 3.3 miles south of
LaConte canyon. I plan to go see the big trees myself.
