Yes, you could! It's easy.

You could get off the trail at Stehekin, take the ferry to Chelan (south end 
of the lake), catch the local bus (across the parking lot from the ferry) to 
Wenatchee bus hub and then take Trailways to Portland, Seattle, etc.

I did this in '03. It required an overnight stay in Wenatchee, which isn't a 
bad thing. Stehekin is about 80 trail miles from Manning Park.
