The one that broke- was it the original or the carbon knock-offs?

I don't know what I was thinking. I'm not sure the aluminum pole would have taken that without bending. It broke at a joint. But I did get it pretty high in the air before it broke....lol.

I've used that pole set quite a bit since with no trouble.

There is nothing you can't break if you apply yourself....

Jerry and Lawrence,

(Replying to two separate posts at the same time). Hey! Great info! I wouldn't mind coughing up the extra bux to save 1/2 lb! Here's the rub: I've been following Lion Kings ADT journey on TrailJournals.com and at one point he talks about "waiting for his new MSR Hubba poles" to arrive. It got me thinkin'......did the original ones break???? Do I need to be concerned about that??? But now you guys got me thinkin: "Maybe he bought the lighter ones and they didn't hold up"!!! Any insights? I'll most likely be seeing LK at the SO Ruck and can ask him then, but in the meantime.............

Wheeew

They are beautifully designed and made.

I use a Hubba with no fly and these poles in canyon country in Utah to get me out of the sand. Tent body and pole set weigh about 1.5 pounds.

Very good points Frank. I will be carrying my MSR Hubba free standing tent. (Heavier, but a feature I insist on).
Thanks,
Gail
