[pct-l] To Ursack or not to Ursack

I'm just saying that, as a customer, I felt more than a little betrayed that the $150+ dollars I spent on two Ursacks with liners was of no value to me six months later. At the time I bought them they were (also) conditionally approved for that year. Ursack made no effort to regain my trust by offering free upgrades or discounts to owners of the useless models. I heard (and this is second hand) that they knew they were producing a inferior product but went ahead as they could not get the green spectra fabric. I see that on there web site they are still selling the unapproved version. They also list the places that the new one has been approved. But they don't mention that it was not approved for the middle of the JMT. The inter agency Ranger Station at Lone Pine would only issue permits to hikers with a Garcia or Bear vault food container if they were hiking through the Rae Lakes basin in 2007. Bear Vault offers free upgrades and free loaner lids that they sent to the
Ranger Station for the older version.

I guess, as with most things, buyer beware. :(

Ursack's website?has been?pretty good about mentioning what bags are
currently approved and if there are any issues.? However, they can't
control if they lose approval like they did in late 2006.? They did post on
their website?when they were notified that they were going to lose
approval and the steps they were talking to fight it.
