[pct-l] RECORD SECTION HIKES

Nice to see all the info coming in as to the longest section hike or who is/was the oldest hiker to do a complete PCT. i did my first hike on the PCT back in ' 75 and still lack about 30 % to finish the trail and at 62 could well be in my 70s before i too finish it.
To all of you out there talking up this thread there is one thought to keep in mind. There are perhaps people out there who took 30, 40 or more years to complete this hike . A feller named Ralph Looney took 49 years to do it all on horseback.
The PCTA has not been allowing us who work to keep these records access to all the info they have stored up in their office. The present Executive Director Liz Bergeron as well as the past director Bob Ballou has not allowed anyone to compile these same records which would give all of us the info about not only the oldest/longest hiker out there but there is no accounting done as to even who completed the trail in the last 10 years. Perhaps if an accounting was done as to the records being stored up in the PCTA office it would clear some of this up. In addition to myself and a few other interested people we have tried to gain access to these records for years and have not been allowed to do so. Makes one wonder why not. Perhaps it time to find out why the history of the trail is locked up in mysteries boxes somewhere.

  Good afternoon, Barney,

I am on my way to a long-term section hike. I began hiking the Oregon
Skyline Trail in late July or early August of 1965, several years before it
was incorporated with other trails in California and Washington to form the
PCT, and have hiked portions of the PCT most years since. Substantial
portions were: Oregon thru-hike in '99, Cascade Locks to Stevens Pass in
'00, Stevens Pass to Manning in '02, and Campo to Sierra City in '07. About
480 miles remain, but I'm only 65 so I should complete it in '08.
