A great online resource to Mt. Whitney is the Whitney Portal Store's
bulletin board. Go to www.whitneyportalstore.com, click on Message Board
and then on Whitney Portal Store Message Board. There a link on the left
to Wilderness Permit Options. Some of the folks on that board have
climbed Whitney 100's of times in every month of the year and know the
area better than the feds.
