Radio's Plant Journal http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?trailname=4514
is great - the journal I wish I would have written! I find that I am too
tired, lazy, etc., at the end of the day to write much, and even if I used a
voice recorder I'd probably have to hire someone to do the transcribing,
because I'd do anything to avoid even more sitting and writing at my
computer instead of hiking or gardening...

Note the lovely Ceanothus oliganthus on the first page of the journal!

Marta,

Go to last year's PCT page on Trailjournals.com. Find "Radio's Plant
Journal". They have done a great job of cataloging and describing
plants along the PCT. I haven't found an easy way to print off the
pictures and captions. I think you would have to print each one
separately. These two should publish a book. Maybe you could contact
them and ask for a printable version of their journal.

Tom

As an ignorant easterner heading to the Sierras for
the first time, I'm sure I won't know the names of
almost any birds or plants I'll see there. Does
anyone have recommendations for ID books that are not
too heavy to carry in the backpack, but inclusive
enough to be useful?
