[pct-l] Bear Canister Loan - 2 still available

There are still a couple of  bear canisters available for loan to 2007 thrus...

If you are a 2007 PCT thru-hiker with somewhat limited finances or on a tight budget and wish to borrow (instead of buying or renting) a bear canister, contact me off-list…

An informal ‘contract’ (on the ‘honor’ system) is required:

Contract:

1.  Required: If, for some unfortunate reason, you get off the trail (discontinue your thru-hike) prior to reaching Agua Dulce, you must contact Hiker Heaven* - for two reasons:
a) so that L-Rod won't worry and if no other thrus know your status she won't send out a search party!!
b) so that your 'reserved' canister could possibly be loaned out to someone else for the season...

2.  Required: You return ship the bear canister when you no longer need it on your thru-hike to Hiker Heaven* (return label will be provided)…  It does not need to be boxed per USPS, but the lid will have to be 'taped' (one strip of strapping or duct tape over the lid and down each side an 'acceptable' distance - check at the postal counter)...

3.  Optional (but hopefully): You help select a 2008 thru to borrow a bear canister and, perhaps, be a mentor sharing your experiences (only if the 2008 thru concurs, of course!)…  Give back to the trail, "pay it forward" in as many other ways as possible also...

4.  Optional: Sign your bear canister (trail name  '07) so that each canister used starts building a trail/thru-hiker 'history'...

Any bear canisters that are not committed for the season will be available on a first come, first served basis at Hiker Heaven - same ‘contract’ as above and at L-Rod’s discretion…
