Hi All! In my LAST town stop for the CDT: Silver City.

A little college town. Has the requisite
coffee/Internet Cafe so my Boulder yuppie side feels
at home. :D

The walmart shoes that I had to buy in Grants, NM (200
miles ago or so), as predicted, tore my feet a bit. I
hoped that would at least take me to Silver City,
which has an outfitter. They did..BARELY! Only $16
for the pair...and it showed! :O

Now sporting my SIXTH pair of shoes. The feet feel
much better. Did not want to buy yet another pair of
shoes so close to the end of the trail..but hey, I"ll
need a pair for trail running back in Boulder. :-)

Saw Mark Flagler and Karma. Did my interview for the
CDT documentary. Will be showinng in Janurary
2008. Was going to be in April 2007, but various
issues are delaying it. My five minutes of hiking
fame. :D Special thanks to Skittles for sending some
delciious home brews with Karma. Even packed one out
on the trail!

Will be finished with this trip on Nov 1st. Hard to
believe. 118 miles to go!

Made it through the Gila River Wilderness. Reminded a
little bit of Utah. Fording streams in a canyon. After
all the jeep road walking, a real wilderness trail was
nice! Now? all pavement to the border. There is some
new trail built..but I know nothing about it. (Only
built within the past year or so and it is not
finished yet. Have little data on it. The CDT veterans
on this list know what it is like to follow a trail
that may or many not be done yet!).

I am tired. My gear is falling apart. Ready to get the
trail done.

Also grateful for the wonderful experience that has
been walking my third major trail. The beauty, the
wonder, the experiences of the journey.

THe CDT has been the most frustrating and difficult of
the three trails. Was also the most rewarding. Raw,
intense, wild.

Next time I email you all..will be done!
