>From what I've heard from hikers that have stayed with us in the past years, the section north of Steven's Pass to Rainy Pass are slower for most hikers. Check the Post Holer site for updates on the snow depth in this northern section. It's already been snowing up here for weeks. Even here at the house it's been snowing for a week. We are at 1,000 feet. This year we just got through with the worst flood in years. Worse than the 2004 floods. Anywhere you find a river even in the high mountains has been destroyed. The old river crossing are most likely gone. I live on a river near Steven's Pass and watch the destruction first hand. Rivers have been rerouted naturals but within a week. If there was a tree used to cross a river here in the NW it is gone. Mt. Rainier Park has been damaged so much it is now closed. That is a first in their history. Please check with the National Parks System and the Forest Service and whoever else you can find to learn what you can about trail damage, possible reroutes, road walks and resupply drops. If you find out anything (for sure) let me know so I can pass the new info on to other hikers. Anyone through the north part of Washington early please call me and update me.
Hike safe,
