I took a long dayhike with Kelly yesterday in the extreme heat of the
Trinity Alps. I hiked up the Little Mills Creek drainage to East Boulder
Lake and then up to the Alps. I was looking for a place that Dr Bob had
mentioned to me where he had camped in 1991 on his PCT hike. It's off trail,
and was interesting, in that at least a mineral miner's homemade cupboard in
an old hollow tree had survived for over 60 years. I then continued on the
PCT to Middle Boulder lake and back to the truck. It was a very hot 15 miles
with 4200 ft of gain and loss. I couldn't drink enough water!! The pictures
are on pages 7,8,9 of my Alps gallery, starting after the map. I didn't see
any thuhikers, but we did meet and combat thousands of "happy to eat me"
deer flies and skeeters..
