Workshops, inspirational talks, dull slideshows of a thru-hike, incredible
presentations like Weathercarrot's, "Walk", snow and ice travel instructions,
etc., etc. are like Delicate Arch to me . . .
"Delicate Arch has the curious ability to remind us - like rock and sunlight
and wind an wilderness - that out there is a different world, older and
greater and deeper by far than ours, a world which surrounds and sustains the
little world of men as sea and sky surround and sustain a ship."

I'm in favour of the workshops. I'll never be able to attend one but
if you come to my part of the world I'll buy to a beer/water/
electrolyte filled drink. You've done things I want to do, and you've
done them many times, passing on that knowledge is to be encouraged.
Those who can find the money and time to be there are helping you
fund your next expedition which seems like a fair trade to me. If
they help someone, who may have stopped part way, make it to Canada
then you've helped one more person reach their goal. And is a great
thing.
