I just wanted to post a quick note to the hiking community expressing my  
gratitude for the help, offers of help, and encouragement I received from all of  
you. Not only was this critical to the success of my hike but more 
importantly  it MADE the hike the amazing and incredible  journey that it was for  me. I 
really feel that without this support that I received from everyone, that  
things may have turned out differently. The constant messages on my phone as  
well as words of encouragement from those met along the way is what kept me  
focused at times. I think 'Billy Goat' put it best when he made the observation  
that when hikers get together they talk about the people met out on the  trail 
more than they do the trail itself. He also posed the question  "what would 
hiking the trail be like if you were alone the entire time except  for in 
towns?". It would really be a much different experience as any late  season south 
bounder could tell you.  Anyhow Thank You to everyone for  all of your help, I 
only hope that I have a chance to return all of this support  and trail magic 
in the near future. Well I've already gained ten pounds and have  to go back 
to work soon but knowing I will be out there next summer is what  makes it all 
worth it. See you out on the trail!!  Scott
