Of course, he Has since been found. Has there been a 
follow-up beyond that?

It's surprising how many of his belongings were found 
intact, especially the matches. Wild speculation only, but 
it seems ol' John didn't exhaust all of his material 
options - as if he hadn't quietly succumbed, but went 
quickly... from the mountain to the sky.
