[pct-l] User Fees
I agree with Montedodge
You don't have to live/here very long in Washington state to notice the
multitude of fees. They have so many dammed fee's that it is impossible to
keep up with them.
Trail parking fee's - all year long $25
Sno-park permits - allow winter parking in plowed areas. $20
Groomed trail permits/sticker $20 -
National wildlife sanctuaries entrance fees
National park entry fees
National park backpacking/ overnight fees
Volcanic climbing fees $15 or $25 ??
State Park fees
and in some areas the USFS also collects fees for state land trails.
Most of these fees have brought NO improvements , NO backcountry enforcement
as compared to the earlier no fee era and NO improvement to the access roads
to the trailheads.
There are almost NO improvements to the users of the facilities, such as
advance resgistration, more campsites, or enforcing all of the STUPID rules
that come along with the permit process.
MIKE AKEN
"I hike alone sometimes. Its during these solo hikes that the number of
arrogant and ignorant people I have to deal with is reduced to one."
