[pct-l] Re: weight
Hi Rob Langsdorf,
- - If a bowl of granola does the job for you, might as well enjoy it.- -
I was out for an eight mile hike this morning on the cold snowless trail. I
got to thinking there was something else that I should have mentioned about
weight when I e-mailed you. A women that I hiked with who has a degree in
biology told me two interesting facts. First, once we are an adult, we can
neither lose nor gain in our number of fat cells. Secondly, fat cells have a
three month "memory" in regards to size. If you reduce the size of your fat
cells and let's say you lose 10 lbs on a hike, you have to keep it off for
at least three months if you want to stay at a lower weight. From this I
conclude, a) there is some hope to reduce to, any low weight that a person
once was as an adult. b) a fat person is just a skinny person with bigger
fat cells. By God, my fat cells are just too big!
