[pct-l] TeePee Tents

I think the reason Big Companies don't sell Teepee style tents is there is
little demand for them and so little profit. ( bottom line PROFIT) Free
standing tents with their clutter of pole sections sell for more money {as
Tom stated, right on)! Many 3 times a year hikers, are too lazy to stake out
guide lines and place convience above all else. A Teepee tent can be made at
less cost (and in turn, less profit) than some 4 pole wonder tent that weighs
8 lb. and is no stronger. Teepees have one pole and can be staked lightly or
bombproof. If the main pole is lost, one can use a trekking pole or stick.
These tents can be single wall with a vent in the ceiling. The standard 3 or
4 pole double wall tents are far heavier by comparison. A Teepee tent is not
for everybody, but neither is walking to Canada.
