  California timberlands sold

  The Timber Co. unit of Georgia-Pacific Corp. said yesterday it agreed to sell its California timberlands to Hawthorne Timber Co. for $397 million. The timberlands include 194,000 acres of forests in Mendocino and Humboldt counties. Hawthorne is an investment group managed and partially owned by Campbell Group Inc., which is a unit of United Asset Management Corp., a Boston-based investment management company.
