[pct-l] Re: knee pain

2 years ago I had a knee surgery (ACL reconstruction) and the doc said that
you are born with so many steps in your knees. Therefore as we walk, run, hike,
etc. we are wearing out our knees. I have found that after hikes with a large
decent (Grand Canyon) that my knees hurt for 1 to 6 months after the trip. I
have found that using two hiking sticks (ski poles) helps reduce and sometime
eliminate the knee pain.

I am 44 and 175lb on a 5'10" frame which helps, I have a friend that is 53,
250lbs on 6'6' frame and his knees are shot, he is just holding our for as long
as he can before knee replacements
