No we don't disagree. It is possible to get through the Sierra in early
season without a Bear Canister. What I object to is sleeping with your
food. Common sense, and the law, says hang it.

Fact is, however, that a lot of thruhikers were traversing to Sierra well
into the season. I even ran across one party in late July at Forrester
Pass.

PS: It is OK to disagree in my book
