Did you ever consider stopping after 15 miles? ((:

I just talked to a fellow hiker. She met the backpacker that was mauled by
a bear at Thousand Island Lake. She said he had a wild and faraway look. [I
would too]  It seems that he ate food in his tent but did not store food in
the tent. Still, the bear crashed the tent mauling him significantly.
Everyone who stored food in his/her tent through this section contributed
to this backpacker's pain.
