Upolstery needles are curved and they're stronger, lots cheaper and easier to buy. You can find them in those little packets not only at fabric stores but even in the supermarket! They're made for just that kind of repair job, but I suppose you could close up after doing trailside surgeries with them too :-)

Why bother with sutures or fishhooks when the real thing is so easy and cheap to get?      Sue
