Perhaps if you leave the specific choice of medication up to your doctor, he
(or she) would be more likely to cooperate.
Before I left for my JMT hike in '96, I developed a persistent cough. I was
concerned that it might get worse while I was out there for 3 weeks. I
explained the problem to my doctor who wrote a prescription to be taken "only
if needed." I didn't need them so I brought them all home and tossed them.
