Filters

It is not a matter of thruhikers or not. Its a question of money!

You could supply yourself with a new filter cartridge every resupply
package. You don't expect your peanut butter to last 500 miles. Why expect
your filter to last as long? Answer, you can't!

This doesn't make filters bad or even not useful for thruhikers. Just
expensive!
