My Irish grandmother-in-law was called Queenie by her relatives.  My 
mother-in-law explained to me that it was to make fun of her because she had 
become such a snob after leaving Ireland in the famine.  She came to the 
U.S. and had hated being poor and living on a farm terribly and swore she 
would never live in the country again and would have been horrified at the 
idea of camping.
