You can always try the old sagebrush method.  Grab a few leaves off of a
sage bush, grind it up just a little in your palm til an oily substance
appears, and rub that on your clothes/skin etc.  The bugs don't like the
stuff.  They might come around once, but won't stay.  It seems to work
for me...
