[pct-l] Section B Status

Just hiked a piece of Section B from Hwy 74 to the Marion Mountain
trail. I've done this section 3 times now and continue to consider the
PCT between Apache Peak and Fuller Ridge to be as well constructed and
scenic as any in the Sierras. Water was flowing nicely at Live Oak
Spring, Apache Spring, Little Taquitz Valley, and Strawberry Cienaga.
It was hot, damn hot, on the exposed sections east of the divide south
of Apache Peak, so carrying extra water would be a wise move. Met 2
rattlesnakes; one LARGE black diamondback ambling across the trail on
Spitler Peak, and the other, a medium sized amber, coiled and waiting
for dinner at Apache Spring. Both looked very well fed. Didn't meet
another hiker until north of Saddle Junction. Met Carolyn Leary and
companion heading south; they had hiked as far as Fuller Ridge and
decided to go back and bail at Devil's Slide rather than descend to
I-10.

Happy trails, Tom
