Sorry, scrub my last post. My strategy works ONLY south to north. [I thought you
were a thruhiker].

The JMT between Lake Thomas Edison and Muir Pass is not "prime bear alley" like
the Lyell Creek or the Kearsarge area but there are still bears in the area. I
would not trust a "bear bagging" strategy. I would also not rush through the
evolution area
