[pct-l] RE: Ultralight this! / WA snow

Are you referring to a 3 month ultra hike or 5 month standard hike?

A thru-hike Southbound PCT trip probably will probably be impossible, there
is going to be a heck of a lot of snow hanging around in June. Heading
north, most thru hikers hit Washington in Mid-August/September. A lot of
the snow will be gone by then. When I went across WA in August 1994, after
a winter of normal snowfall, there was no snow on the ground anywhere,
except for the crest of the goat rocks on 8/9/94.

If all of the snow melts quickly, there is going to be major flooding. Of
course our TV news will have a field day since disaster=ratings, god forbid
should we ever see any real news from mainstream outlets. Sorry for the
rant, but Portland news is terrible.
