Hello to all,

I have also recently subscribed and have enjoyed reading the news everyone has been sharing. Chris' message made me think:  why haven't I introduced myself yet?

I'm planning to hike in 2000 with my friend, Dave.  I'm in San Francisco and Dave's in New Mexico.  We met while living in Colorado and our love of outdoor activities has taken us backpacking and hiking through many places in the Western states.  

Right now we're in very early planning stages, but this mailing list has been helpful and I'll definitely be living vicariously through those hiking this year and gaining insight from everyone's valuable knowledge and opinions.

Chris...nice to meet you.  I was surprised to see someone mention Cal, my old stomping grounds.  Sounds like we have a fair chance of running into each other in town or on the trail!

I'll be reading.  Best of luck to all of this year's hikers!

Hello everyone,

I have just subscribed to the mailing list, and I though I ought to
introduce myself.  
	My name is Chris Mills and I am a Junior Philosophy major at UC Berkeley,
intending to eventually pursue a career in law.  This August my roommate
and I are going to be hiking the JMT, and the following summer (of 2000) we
will be thru-hiking the entire PCT.  I figured that any information about
such a hike has the potential to make my trip much smoother, so I decided
to join the mailing list.  I look forward to being able to converse with
