[pct-l] Mid Sierra Snow

For what it's Worth,

I was up at Mammoth last weekend and went snowshoeing up to Minaret Summit
(~9,200') and up onto San Joaquin Ridge (to around 9,800'). The snow at
the summit was 4-8 feet. No snow below 8,000 feet. Patchy snow to 9,000
feet. Solid snow and ice above. Everything melting fast. 50's to 60+
degrees highs all weekend long at 9,000 feet. 75 in Mammoth Lakes city on
Sunday. A storm is coming in today that may or may not reach far enough
south to contribute snow to the southern and mid Sierras. So far, Mammoth
is showing an almost perfect "average" year. Which means that they will
close in April/May and most snow will be gone, except at high elevations,
by June. Of course, there can always be late snow storms in the Sierras up
to June.

FWIW, Good luck '99ers! See you at the ADZPCTKOP!
