[pct-l] Re: Trail Mail

Thanks for the note Brian.

Walt and I got lots of cookies and brownies too -- and they were great to
share with our "family" as they shared theirs with us. Sometimes the lot at
the PO's would look like a "Hobo Convention," scruffy, dirty characters
hooting and dancing. Really weird these characters must have looked/

We (the Hobos) were just happy to have gotten through that section (the
hooting level was decibles higher after a really tough section) and among
our friends sharing trail highlights and gifts from our loved ones. Our
TrailSon Jeremy's Mother made the best brownies. She packed them good and
tight so we actully ended up eating squares instead of crumbs!

Our Son and his new wife have promised us lots of brownies and chocolate
chip cookies and pictures of the kids. In '97 Walt's Sister sent him his
very OWN box of Oreos for his Birthday, a couple of "Over the Hill"
balloons, some confetti to throw and a picture of her! That is a Birthday
he won't forget! By the way, mascara isn't the only thing that can make a
streak down the face -- a tear of joy will make a white path down a dusty
cheek too!

See you out there -- Pat

PS When sending mail to PCT Hikers it is very helpful to write "PCT Hiker"
on the envelope and an arrival date if you have one. They will hold the
letter for 30 days and then usually return to sender. My cousin loaded his
letters to me with bright and colorful stickers -- we sent most of our mail
back home and still get them out to reread. Especially our Birthday Cards!
