Hi everyone. I've been lurking for a few months now. I'm the "support" for the The Hiking Fools, Jim, Jerry and Felipe, who began day hiking from Campo back in December. Last weekend did the 23+ mile stretch from Scissors Crossing to S22. Hiked from 7:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No shade all day, and they drank more water per hour than usual. There is plenty of water (and cow droppings) right now in the creek at Scissors crossing; Barrel Spring has water dripping out of the pipe, with a sign suggesting the need to boil before drinking. Water in the container looks a bit stagnant.

We stashed 2 gals of water about 1/4 m. north of the road at Scissors Crossing, just before you start up the switchback, off the right hand side of the trail about 5-10 ft. It says "PCT'rs help yourself. ar" and Jim says it's visible from the trail.

We live in La Mesa (just east of San Diego) and go to Borrego Springs every week (work and play) for a few days. We can help with a number of things....get you from San Diego to Campo (with notice), stash water at Scissors Crossing, etc.

Feel free to e-mail me at anneri@4dcomm.com if I can help in any way. We also have a huge yard if anyone wants to camp overnite before heading to Campo.

Anne
