Howdy listers,
I haven't seen my favorite trail food mentioned in other's food lists.
I had instant pudding for lunch every day on the PCT and NEVER got tired
of it. Half a package in a Nalgene wide mouth bottle, enough powdered
milk for 1 cup, about 1 cup of water. Lid on and shake like heck. Pour
in cup or pot and set in handy snow bank or cool stream (careful - I
lost a pot from a matched set one time when the stream rose a little).
Favorite flavor: pistachio. I liked all other flavors I tried -
chocolate, vanilla, and butterscotch. Vanilla and butterscotch had a
slight chemical flavor but I still liked them. When I got tired of my
staple gorp, I added it to the pudding and found that it had become a
new taste sensation!!! Granola too. It's cheap and gives a fair dose of
protein. I always had mine for lunch.
