[pct-l] Coolmax and liner socks

Hello Joanne -

I have used Coolmax shirts, briefs, and liner socks with no reaction, so I
can't speak to the specific problem. I used the Wigwam liners as sleep
socks (extends comfort range and helps keep the sleeping bag cleaner), so
did not get to see how they did when they are rubbed into your foot while
hiking. I hope that you find the fix that works best for you...and that
you don't have to give up the option of using Coolmax.

A different kind of solution might be to explore the possibility of
ditching the liner socks altogether. I used to use nylon or olefin (sp?)
liners when I used wool hiking socks. I found that I no longer needed (or
wanted) liners when I started using the Thorlo Trekking socks. I have done
all my distance hiking in the Trekkings and have definitely enjoyed having
half as many socks to keep up with <g>.

Friends who use the Smartwools have told me that they also don't need to
use liner socks.

Good luck!
