Water jugs were an eye sore in southern California. One needs to take the trail and its resources for what it is and not bring in civilization and society and its weakness of the mind and spirit into the lives of through hikers. Yes, some stretches will be tough, demanding, and will humble you, but that is what the trail is all about. Learn to adapt to your surroundings as all animals and plants adapt to their surroundings. Even if you just hike a few hundred miles of the PCT, it may change your life forever on how you perceive the world. At least I hope it will.
