Re: [pct-l] re: reading matter

Rebecca tactfully enquired...

<<your reading suggestions were nice and I might read some of those, however
... how about some female authors?
Any suggestions, anyone?>>

Lemme take a stab here... Here are some female "nature" writers whose works
I've enjoyed.

Isabella Bird, "A Lady's Life in the Rocky Mountains" (1879)

Annie Dillard, "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek" (1974)

Margaret Murie, "Two in the Far North" (first published in the late 1950's);
"Wapiti Wilderness" (1966); "Island Between" (1977)

Mary Austin, "The Land of Little Rain" (1902); "The Land of Journey's
Ending" (1924)

Sally Carrighar, "One Day on Beetle Rock" (1978); "One Day at Teton Marsh"
(1979)

Rachel Carson, "Silent Spring" (1962)

Anne LaBastille, "Woodswoman" (1976); "Women and Wilderness" (1980)

Anne Zwinger (many books; all are wonderful)

Diana Kappel-Smith, "Wintering" (1984)

This ought to keep you out of trouble for a couple nights.... ;-)

Lucian ("Bristlecone")
