Ouch.  My only issues (so far) is that I haven't been to the west coast yet,
and therefor I am not aware of resupply points, and have never had to carry
an ice axe before.

Suddenly I don't feel so special anymore.  I think you missed my point, but
then again I am only a simple hiker who doesn't have a clue.
