Monte,

     Wow!!!  Your admission of hunting should spark plenty of hate mail
from the many tree huggers on the list.  My husband is a biologist and
we live in Ellensburg (45 min. E of Snoqualmie for the out-of-staters).
Your story about the elk carcass is correct.  Hair and tracks were found
at the scene and both confirmed grizzly.  
     I mentioned our cougar problem once before on the list after having
a scary encounter.  Many people on the list (at the time) seemed to
think there is not a
problem.  I suppose you have to live in our state to be abreast of our
issues.  Many wardens in the area advise people to pack heat and I
always do!  I hear cougar meat tastes like chicken.
