Re: [pct-l]snowmap
Helen - Thanks for the encouragement about snowshoeing. Think I need to
try it - someone told me it is harder than cross-country skiing. I sure
have to get out though. I've become addicted to being in the Sierra
every weekend and am having withdrawals bad!
>A hike I liked is the Steven's Trail out of Colfax (below snowline)
Guess what? I just tried the Steven's Trail this past weekend! It was
great! I say TRIED, because we took a wrong turn and ended up at the
DUMP!!! Went left at the fire road, which my directions said. I still
don't know how to get to the waterfall, but I'm going back - would this
weekend if it wasn't raining. Heck, maybe I'll go in the rain. I
thought it was a beautiful hike even if I did it wrong, but my husband
was really bummed. I just thought - well hey - we still have the RIGHT
way to look forward to and there just aren't many places to go in the
winter so now we have one more! Just seems to me like there must be
many beautiful places in that area and north of 80 between Colfax and
where the snow starts.
Thanks again.
Determined Mary!
By the way - I reviewed the previous message re: snowmap and found the
snow info on line.
My favorite place to hike so far has been around Silver Lake, Lake
Marguarite, Round Top (my longest so far - as I said, I'm new).
