Re: [pct-l] Geritol

Hello All -

My personal "Geritol" hero is Brice Hammock (sp?). My son and I shared a
cabin with him at Olallie Lake in '95. He was out "doing Oregon" to get
out of the house for a while.

If I remember right, he started hiking at age 65 and had done the PCT, AT,
and the CDT before he was 70. We met him after that.

We wanted to make some really good time after we left Olallie Lake at 9am
(long story) that morning. We had to meet our wives at Timberline Lodge
the next day and we had 56 miles to go. We left Brice at the lake waiting
(couple hours) for the Ranger to get in so he could get a resupply package.

We pushed pretty doggone hard that day and were cooking dinner when Brice
walked in...he had caught up to us with no problem. He said that we had
better do a little better if we wanted to meet the ladies on time...

We took his advice...walked all night...and got to Timberline Lodge an hour
early...had time for a shower before they drove in!
