I think I must have the record for most weight gained on a thruhike.
When I
did the AT, I started at my normal wt (125#), and ended at 140# !! It
was
mostly muscle, but there was also some fat (I think I was eating about
5000 cals/day). During my next megahike, I ate about 3200 cals/day and
stayed a constant 125# from start to finish.
For most people, though, it's eat,eat,eat, and lose,lose,lose, :)
but there are a few of us oddballs out there.
