So true....and a couple years ago, I saw a guy lugging his stuff in a
_garbage bag_ (thrown over his shoulder)! I remember thinking: "Either
this guy is Ultra Lite or Ulta Poor - phew!" Turned out he'd had a little
mix-up in his resupply arrangements. He'd hitched a ride (muleback, to
the TH, which is why he'd left his real pack behind, then by auto into
town - all courtesy, BTW, of one of those Devil commercial horsepackers
<G>) to do some unplanned grocery-shopping. Bought a garbage-bag worth of
supplies (and had a steak dinner, thanks to the packer again); packer
drove him back to the TH. Guess he'd had enough of mules, because he and
his sorry-looking "pack" were riding shanks' mare on the way back to the
PCT..... bj
